TRIP TO JONDARYAN

Hello
The 3 of us (+ Cooper, Jordan, Jackson & Jeff) took a trip out to Jondaryan Woolsheds today.
What a lovley day. We arrived around 10am and left at 1pm. We had a good look around and enjoyed some damper and billy tea, made on site.
We needed to have a look at the Woolshed where the Australia Day market is being held.
We measured up and worked out that we can fit 48 stallholders throughout the inside of the Woolshed. So, that means, we are fully booked for our inside stalls...however...we can utilise the beautiful surrounds of the shed and have outside stalls still available. So, we are now taking bookings for outside only. The cost for an outside stall is $40 and you will need your own tables, chairs and canopy.
Here are some photos of the woolshed and the outside areas.

The Surrounds of the Woolshed

More Surrounds of the Woolshed

Long view of the Woolshed

Closer view of the Woolshed Entrance

It is approx 43km and 35 minutes from Toowoomba...which would make it approx 1 hour and 45 minutes from Ipswich.
We are very excited about this Expo as the Australia Day Festival that we are incorporating the Expo with sounds like a lot of fun and a great day out for EVERYONE.

The Devastating Ipswich Floods

Hello

We thought we might share some photos of the floods that have consumed Ipswich over the past couple of days.
We have been lucky enough to not have any damage, but driving around, there have certainly been some very unlucky people and we wish them all the best with their clean ups. The community spirit of Ipswich has no doubt come out in force to help the needy.
We have never seen anything like this before. We were not around the area for the 74 floods and thank goodness for that. These are terrible enough in themselves, but to have to deal with MORE water would be dreadful.
Thank goodness today (Friday) is sunny and lovley, give the people who had damage to start drying out some of their things.

TENTATIVELY BOOKED....

Hello
We thought we would advise via our blog that we are tentatively booked for all of our Expos, except Goondiwindi (of which we are up to over 60 stallholders). We have started a waiting list and if you would like to be placed on the list, please let us know via email to: thehandmadeexpo@optusnet.com.au.
The bookings and enquiries have come thick and fast...very exciting times.
We would like to let you know, that due dates for payments of all expos are 1 month(by calendar date) prior to each expo. This means that....if payment is not made on or before this date, your position is at jeopardy of being given to someone else on the waiting list...so, we encourage that you make your payment before the due date to secure your position.
Happy Handmade and bring on 2009!

STOP STEALING OUR SIGNS

Hello

All of our posts that we place on this blog are very upbeat and positive...HOWEVER, we have come across people stealing our signs...which is a very unfortunate thing. Not only for The Handmade Expo, but for the Ipswich Community.
We get up very early the Sunday morning before the Expo to put the signs on poles all around Ipswich. It takes us a good 2 hours to accomplish. The Sunday after the expo, we race around town to collect them. Now...here is the interesting bit!
Every month, we are down at least 1 sign. Someone is stealing our signs. This month, there were 3 that went missing.
We use a ladder, we use a drill, we use screws...They are very securely put into the poles.
We started with 25 signs...now we are down to 15.
We have found that this is a fab way of getting the word out to the local Ipswich community...Here is a photo of our signs. If you see any laying around (which we have done so before), please let us know...

November Expo...another Success

Hello

WOW...what an amazing day. We must admit that it was quite HOT on Saturday...the fans that we put around the pavilion did help a little bit and it even seemed cooler inside the pavilion than out.
We had just over 1200 people through the door. Which is awesome. With a constant flow all day, we did notice the busiest period was between 8am-11am.
We found out on Saturday that we were mentioned on Channel 10 news as well...at the end, after the weather where they mention "what to do this weekend"..Thanks Tenille for the heads up on that. If you of course see or hear us on TV...we would love to know about it.
Hope you enjoy the few photos below...
See you all next month at the Xmas Xtravaganza Expo on December 13th.

See you all on Saturday

Hello
Well, the time has come to head on over to the pavilion tomorrow and start setting up. We are excited once again (yes, the butterflies of excitement have returned).
We will once again have the wonderful coffee man on site, together with a sausage sizzle and snow cones. What more could you want on a wonderful summers day...a coffee hit together with a sausage and snow cone to boot.
Dont forget the awesome stallholders who have been very busy all month putting together their array of handmade goodies. What a wonderful time and atmosphere to start your xmas shopping. So, bring your xmas list and make sure you check it twice!!
We look forward to seeing you all there on Saturday from 8am.

STALLHOLDER - FEATURE PRESENTATION

Searching out a Stallholder!!

Yay, we finally adjusted our diaries and made it to "Old Petrie Town" to see one of our stallholders, Trish Goodfield of Trishalan Designs. Trish owns a fab little shop that in another life was a butter factory but now is her workshop and retail space for all her eco dyed products. "ECO" I hear you say? Yes Trish can dye a shirt only using one cup of water, very friendly on the environment, (mind you it was raining the day we visited!!)

Trish holds classes teaching people her art and from photos we've seen on her blog it seems all those attending are just dye -ing to do more!!

Trish is a very philosophical person and we enjoyed her hospitality.

Thanks again Trish and happy birthday for yesterday too!!

You will be able to enjoy Trishs' hand dyed products, fabric, threads and clothing at all the Handmade Expos including Jondarayan on Australia Day 2009 and Goondiwindi on April 4 th 2009.

We also had the pleasure of meeting Trish's husband Alan, the other half of Trishalan designs and Alan creates pieces from wood which we are hoping he will bring along to Jondarayan.

Check out Trish's blog http://www.trishalandesigns.blogspot.com/ and she has a new website coming soon http://www.dyeingforfabricandthreads.com/

Note: Patchworkers go crazy for hand dyed fabrics! so if you know any mad about patchwork people, why not pick them up some fat quarters for Christmas from Trish on Saturday at the Handmade Expo.

Cheers! Miriam

Toowoomba...another beautiful city

Hi

So, this weekend, we visited Miriam (mum) in Toowoomba. They have the most wonderful parks and once again, went for a morning walk and took some photos. Hope you like.

ALSO...don't forget about the expressions of interest (eoi) we are taking for The Handmade Expo in Goondiwindi. EOI close 1st December 2008. We need a minimum amount of stallholders to be able to go ahead with the market which will be in April 2009. We are very happy with the response so far.
Goondiwindi is approx 3.5 hours from Ipswich and approx 2.5 hours from Toowoomba. So, spread the word.
