Stallholder profile Schudio

Todays Stallholder profile is Schudio

Your name: Cassie and Kim
Your Business name: Schudio

The suburb/town you live in:
Cassie is in Crestmead and Kim is in Brassall

What is it that you make and what skills do you use?
We make a number of items including cushions, tote bags and shoe bags, small, medium and large zippered pouches, glasses cases and fabric covered journals which all use our own designs printed onto fabric made out of recycled water bottles.

What inspired you to start your business?
We studied together at University and always had a dream of creating unique designs on cushions.

How long have you been ‘creating’?
We have been creating for almost 3 years now.

Is it a full time/ part time/hobby or business?
We would like it to become a full time business but at this stage it is more of a part time labour of love.

Where do you sell your creations?
We sell our products on our online store www.schudio.com.au as well as through our facebook page. We stock 5 Quirky Cherubs at Gaythorne and at Ashgrove and have had our products in the Green Cathedral Design Gallery at Noosa for 2 years. We are selling at a few Christmas markets this year including The Handmade Expo on 21st November, John Paul College Carols night markets on 22nd November and the Etsy Made Local Market on 28th November.

What makes what you do special or different?
We design all of our fabric from scratch and have our designs printed onto fabric made out of recycled water bottles, so not only are all of our designs original but our products also help to reduce landfill. We also only use Australian suppliers to help support our local economy. Our products are designed by us and made by us.
What is the most rewarding part of what you do? Knowing that we are providing people with unique products that not only look great but support our economy and reduce the impact we have on the environment.

What is your favourite product that you make?
Our cushions. The always have a contrast piping and a chunky exposed zip right down the back. We like to think of this as our signature.

Do you teach classes or workshops?
We do not currently teach workshops or classes.
